Our approach
Getting others to do the jobs in your home can be expensive if you use multiple contractors. We have four key principles that help us deliver an excellent service with outstanding value
Multi-skilled List Doers
who make the most of "drying time"
Our List Doers
all possess a wide range of skills and experience in helping fix and revamp homes. We provide best value to you when we complete multiple jobs within a single day or two, utilizing the “drying time” of one job, to provide time to complete another. Our app will help you collate your home to-do list and share it with a List Doer
so you can agree which work they should complete for you, and when.
Property Intimacy
The best handymen will know your property well which will help minimize the cost and effort of completing those jobs on your list. We use technology to create property intimacy. Property owners who have a handyman who helps them on a regular basis value the property knowledge that the handyman develops over time by working at the property. List Doers
use modern technology to accelerate the development and retention of the client’s property knowledge so as to minimize the time evaluating the specific jobs (and thereby reducing cost).
Efficient Sourcing
Our easy to use mobile app will help you manage your job lists and help us minimise the cost of sourcing materials for you (a significant cost factor in all renovation jobs). If we “know” your home and we can “see” what needs work, then we can plan and source the parts/materials in advance without having to charge you for material collection on the day of the job. You should not pay for our time to purchase the parts needed to complete your work.
Preventative rather than curative work
We don’t like emergencies, although we can respond to them! Emergency call outs are expensive and don’t deliver value for money for the property owner. Instead, we recommend that you maintain an up-to-date list of maintenance jobs that need doing. This will help you avoid costly emergency repairs, by ensuring that any problems are fixed before they get too bad.
List Doers
Our List Doers
(LDs for short) are experienced handymen with demonstrable skills and experience in maintaining all aspects of a modern home; including IT, plumbing, electrics & lighting (some) and new media. They have a passion for getting lots done and clearing-down job lists.
How to book
If you would like us to help you complete those jobs in your home that have been on your job list for months, then get in touch and we will call back to arrange a visit. On our initial visit to your property, we will review the jobs on your list and then provide advice and a reasonable estimate as to how we would complete some or all of them.
You can pay for HLA services either by monthly Direct Debit or on a per-day basis:
1. Monthly subscription using Direct Debit
- Our monthly subscription contract is the best way to ensure your job list is managed well in a cost efficient way. For an agreed annual fee, paid monthly by Direct Debit, you reserve and buy ‘x’ number of days of a List Doer, who will work with you throughout the year to remove the hassle of staying on top of your job list.
- During our initial visit to your property, we will set you up with a secure mobile app to help you manage your home to-do list and to give us visibility of your jobs. When you have sufficient jobs on your list to keep a List Doer busy for at least a day, we can then agree with you when we should do the work (booking can be done via the app too)
- Using the monthly subscription also gives you priority access to forward booking dates for your work to be completed.
2. On a day-by-day basis, paying for the work on completion
- After our initial visit, you’ll receive a written statement of work and estimate before the work starts.
- You will be asked to pay a small deposit, and we will invoice you the balance once the work is complete.
Current pricing (valid until December 2018)
Our standard day rate for a List Doer
is £300 (around 8 hour day or more)
Monthly subscriber clients, paying by Direct Debit benefit from a discount on our standard day rate of between 10% when committing to one day per year and up to 20% discount when committing to four days or more per year.
Our prices include all standard minor materials and waste disposal (unless otherwise stated), as well as VAT.
- We won’t charge for any standard materials we use to complete the work for you with a value of less than £5 unless they are very specific items for the job
- We do not charge for typical job waste disposal/removal as our aim is to reduce the number of jobs on your list rather than increase them! However, we will charge a surcharge for those jobs that generate significant waste
